How Good Is Wayne Rooney?

How Good Wayne Rooney Really Is

Some people out there have the audacity to judge Rooney’s quality and ability. In fact some people think he is overrated and not as good as other strikers, so here is a blog to judge how good he really is. Firstly Rooney has had to adapt at Manchester United with them having such strikers as Solksjaer, van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Saha, Berbatov and Tevez as the front man. Rooney has had to play deeper at times but he still scores goals! For the people who criticise Rooney has been our most important player since Ronaldo left, Rooney drags us over the line each season! In all competitions for club and country over the past 7 seasons Rooney has only dropped below 14 assists in two seasons. In them 2 seasons he scored 34 goals. Not much players in our team get them amount of assists in the team! The 2 seasons that Rooney scored 34 goals we didn’t win the league which seems strange but, in them 2 seasons no one else got more than 12 goals! I see the reason we didn’t win the league in them seasons is because the assists Rooney normally got were transferred into goals and nobody else in the team came up with the assists. Even in the 2010-2011 season where he was criticised for his goal scoring form he got 16 goals and 14 assists. Berbatov may have been top scorer but if Rooney didn’t come up with his brilliance in the 2nd half of the season we wouldn’t of have won the league; that brilliance including such of the overhead kick vs City.

Rooney’s Strengths: Powerful and strong on the ball, Rooney’s ability to pick a pass, shoot from distance and unselfishly work for the team is unparalleled in world football. His passion can never been called into question.

Rooney’s Style: Powerful, hard-working, passionate; an unselfish superstar.

Quotes: “We all know football players at the top level are blessed with high wages, it’s no secret. But Rooney would play for 100 euros-a-week. You can see the fire in his eyes. It’s that fire which makes him the best of the best.” 2009 World Player of the Year Lionel Messi praises Rooney’s passion.

“Wayne can go on to achieve unbelievable things – he’s got so much talent.” Paul Gascoigne

“I can see Wayne having the same impact as Eric Cantona had on the team.” Sir Alex Ferguson

“I have always said that Wayne Rooney is an amazing player, the kind of striker any team in the world would like to have.” Thierry Henry

“Rooney can do the lot. He will eventually have all the United goal scoring records.” Denis Law

MORE ABOUT WAYNE ROONEY

•3rd Highest Paid Footballer in the World

• HE IS ONLY 27

I see some ludicrous statements that we should cash in on Rooney. Let me put this blunt and some people may not like it, if we sell Rooney we might aswell not turn up to play our games. We would probably crumble! We’d get top 4 but we would be miles off winning a league title. There is not a player like him in the world, he’s the complete forward! That’s why he is the best striker in the world (besides Messi & Cristiano). He’s adapted his whole career and would score goals wherever he plays. People talk about the Spanish League and the goals scored in there and compare them to the scoring in the Premier League, that makes me laugh personally. Falcao scored 24goals for Atletico Madrid but as he’s the main man at the club I won’t use him as an example. Using Higuain as he was 4th top goal scorer with 22 goals for Madrid, Rooney would destroy that record in that league easily!

I hear Rooney isn’t world class because he doesn’t cut it on the international stage. Which I get confused about because surely you can’t change how it applies to one person and not the other. So therefore I’ll compare Rooney to Messi.

Rooney 79caps 33goals.

Messi 77caps 31goals.

As you can see there is not much in that and people would be insulted and laugh off claims that Rooney and Messi would be in the same bracket. Yes Messi is much better than Rooney but does that make Messi not world class because of his international record. If you are comparing Argentina and England, really in squad quality you couldn’t really say who say who’s better it’s probably 50/50. Argentina have a better attack and England have a better defence. Rooney has had injury problems pre-tournaments all the time except 2004 and he performed outstanding. Messi has failed to steal the show at any major tournaments besides the 2008 Olympics, which for a person of his quality is a shame. When comparing European teams Rooney plays against and South American teams Messi plays against Europe is harder. The word ‘World Class’ gets bundled about very easily for some players but these two truly are unquestionably! They both perform magnificent for their clubs and play in the hardest ‘Mixed Team Competition’ in the world being the UEFA Champions League. With both players scoring in that fairly well and both being to the final at least 3times in 5years it shows there class!

To sum it up, YES Rooney is World Class, he is the best player for United by a distance no question about that. He is the complete forward and there is nobody like him in the world. Selling him would be suicide. He is the best striker in the league on ability and in the world also. I see only Ronaldo and Messi better than him who plays in that forward role.
